NGO JOBS IN NIGERIA TODAY AT SAVE THE CHILDREN FEBRUARY 2013: SAVE THE CHILDREN CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

Save the Children Nigeria is a leading international organization in over eight states in Nigeria with a current staff complement of approximately 123 staff and current expenditure of approximately GBP 6.8 million each year

 

Save the Children is preparing to launch an exciting new project in two states in Northern Nigeria. The project aims to provide up to 60,000 vulnerable families with regular cash transfers to reduce poverty and improve their ability to buy nutritious food.

 

  1. COMPLIANCE AND AWARDS COORDINATOR – ABUJA

-         Managing the robust and an effective grants management system that is compliant to Save the Children grants systems and guidelines and meet donor requirements.

 

REQUIREMENTS

-         BSC in Accounting, Business Administration, Commerce or Finance with a recognised professional certificate in accounting – Part II ACA, ACMA, ACCA

-         At least 3 for the non-profit sector

-         Knowledge of managing institutional donor contracts such as DFID, EC, ECHO, USAID

-         Understanding of strategic financial management and producing appropriate management information to support strategy development and decision-making by management

-         Strong analytical skills and ability to translate analysis into appropriate, feasible and practical implementation plans and goals.

-         Knowledge of development work in order to communicate effectively with donors and programme staff on funding sources and programme issues

-         Knowledge of developing guidelines and formats to support staff in donor applications and reporting with particular reference to DFID grants

-         Experience of major donor funding sources and grant application processes

-         Knowledge of coordinating programmes in each stage of the project cycle, including development of funding proposals, budgeting, technical and financial monitoring in the context of grants/restricted funding sources.

-         Excellent experience in interdepartmental relationships, dynamics and functioning in an overseas programme setting

-         Knowledge to translate complex, technical and financial issues into a language understandable by non-finance staff

-         Ready to travel to field offices and work in difficult environment from time to time

-         Ready to work within multicultural and multi-religious settings

-         Experience of Save the Children UK financial accounting packages, policies, systems and procedures.

 

  1. CHILD SAFEGUARDING ADVISOR – ABUJA

-         Monitor the institutionalizing child safeguarding and code of conduct into the Nigeria countrywide programme, ensure that the country programme has a clear complaints, reporting and investigating mechanisms, and monitor compliance and accountability

-         Accountable for ensuring that partner, suppliers and others associated with SCI are aware of and are compliant with the child safeguarding policy.

 

REQUIREMENTS

-         BSC in Social Work or equivalent Health, Education or other relevant professional qualification working experience

-         5 years direct experience of child protection practice and the Convention on the Rights of the Child

-         Current working knowledge of child care law, child protection policies and practice and current issues in relation to safeguarding children within Nigeria and West African context

-         Fluency in written and spoken English

-         Develop written reports or materials to a publishable standard in the English Language

-         organize, deliver and evaluate training, capacity building, coaching and mentoring skills

-         implement learning, development and change for individuals and/or groups/organizations

-         Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches

-         Strong analytical skills, Effective negotiator

-         Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including right-based approaches

 

  1. NATIONAL PROGRAMME MANAGER – ABUJA

-         Coordinate Child Development Grant Programme in Northern Nigeria

-         Responsible for the achievement of programme deliverables and delivery of the joint log-frame within the consortium of Save the Children and Action against Hunger.

 

REQUIREMENTS

-         BSC in a related field

-         Post-graduate qualification in Public Health; or Nutrition or Food Security related relevant discipline

-         Past experience of designing and/or delivering large scale (in excess of £ 10m) programmes

-         Capacity to manage large consortiums with a minimum of 4 years experience managing multi-regional or multi-country programmes

-         Proven track record of meeting or exceeding programme targets, while maintaining technical quality

-         Represent the programme at a strategic level and engage and influence key stakeholders

-         Experience of working with national and/or regional level government structures.

-         Self-motivated and result orientated.

-         Knowledge in management of finance and budget monitoring and risk management

-         Excellent diplomatic and emotionally intelligent with strong oral and written communication skills

-         Solid communication, and interpersonal skills in English, with substantial experience in managing multicultural teams

-         Knowledge of building, leading and developing a team of senior staff  with different backgrounds and expertise

-         Experience of solving complex issues through analyses, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in

-         Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles

-         Demonstrable understanding of Value for Money and DFID results agenda

-         Ability to mentor multi-sectoral partners

-         Ability to speak Hausa

 

  1. INTERNATIONAL SOCIAL PROTECTION ADVISER – ABUJA

-         Supervise all technical aspect of the Child Development Grant Programme, accountable of ensuring that the programme is delivered to a high quality, evidence in the programme approach is built and a consistent approach to quality is taken across the consortium.

 

REQUIREMENTS

-         Post-graduate qualification in Social Science, International Development, Economics or related relevant discipline

-         Knowledge of designing and delivering cash transfer programme at scale

-         Capacity to work within or manage large consortiums

-         At least 4 years experience managing multi-agency programme

-         Proven track record of meeting or exceeding programme targets, while maintaining technical quality

-         Capacity to represent the cash transfer programme at a policy and strategic level as well as to engage with and influence key stakeholders

-         Knowledge working with national and/or regional level government structures

-         Substantial experience of working and living in Africa, ideally with professional experience in Nigeria

-         Experience of building, leading and developing a team of senior staff  with different backgrounds and expertise

-         Experience of solving complex issues through analyses, definition of a clear way forward and ensuring buy-in

-         Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles

-         Proven understanding of Value for Money and DFID results agenda

-         Excellent communication, and interpersonal skills in English, with substantial experience in managing multicultural teams

-         Solid diplomatic and emotionally intelligent with strong oral and written communication skills

-         Excellent  numerically articulate with a track record of data manipulation and use of spreadsheets and reporting systems

-         Self-motivated and result orientated.

-         Capacity to mentor multi-sectoral partners

 

  1. MONITORING AND EVALUATION AND VALUE FOR MONEY COORDINATOR

-         Coordinate technical role in developing, implementing, and maintaining effective and appropriate Monitoring and Evaluation systems for all project activities.

 

REQUIREMENTS

-         Advanced training in quantitative methodologies, including database management

-         Professional qualification at postgraduate level or equivalent in economics or related discipline

-         5 years of direct experience of monitoring and evaluation related to one or more of these fields: health, HIV, nutrition and/ or economics

-         Excellent analytical skills and an understanding of a range of methods for monitoring, evaluation and assessment to promote evidence-based learning

-         Capacity to design, commission, and manage assessment methodologies evaluation

-         Knowledge of cost benefit analysis, economic appraisal or other value for money methodologies

-         Computer literate

-         Support from staff across members, and to build the capacity of other

-         Coordinate effective resource allocation to ensure quality programmes

-         Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, including ability to think creatively and innovate and to set priorities, manageable work plans and evaluate progress

-         Good communications skills

-         The ability to analyze complex data and summarize it for a range of different audiences

-         Experience of working within budget constraints

-         Commitment to team working and understanding of how to contribute

-         Experience in international development
